WATERLOO (KWWL) -

An overnight chase in Waterloo has led to multiple arrests.

Around 12:30 a.m. Waterloo police officers tried to stop a car near Washington St and Highway 63. They recognized the driver, 18-year-old Nicholas Campbell-Scott, and knew he was wanted on warrants. They later learned he was an escapee from a Linn County residential center.

According to police, Campbell-Scott sped off and officers chased him. The chase ended in the area of W. 2nd Street and Western when the driver hit a utility pole. Our crew on the scene saw police vehicles blocking 2nd Street between Western and Locust.

According to officers, Campbell-Scott tries to run away. After a brief struggle, officers arrested him.

Officers say the passenger, 16-year-old Dewon Campbell, Jr., also tried to run away from the crash. They also arrested him. Officers found guns not far from the car.

Both men were taken to the Black Hawk County Jail.

Campbell-Scott is facing interference with official acts, carrying weapons, OWI while eluding and Driving While License Suspended.

Campbell Jr.faces interference with official acts and carrying weapons.

This was one of two overnight chases involving a driver who hit a utility pole. We're told the other one involved minors and more information should be available later today.
