Eastern Iowans are excited about the Pope's American swing.

About 40 people left in a bus from a parish in Waterloo this morning to see the Pope when he travels to Philadelphia this weekend.

After a quick picture and some last goodbyes, they are off to Philadelphia. They are ready to see the Pope this weekend.

"I think it's really going to be just really going to be a kind of out of this world feeling," Cassidy Oberreuter says.

"This is really on my bucket list. I'm so excited about it," traveler Marilyn Steggall says.

Although they left from this parish in Waterloo, there will be people from all over Eastern Iowa on the trip.

"It strikes me that everyone seems to care that Pope Francis is here. I think he's truly a pope of mercy that can extend to everyone."

"I think it will be awesome to see so many people and to maybe even connect with some of them," Oberreuter says.

While in Philadelphia, they will be spending a lot of time in what they are calling  the pope zone.

There will be concerts, an outdoor mass, over 40 jumbo trons, and a shot at meeting the Pope.

"It would be really cool if I could take a selfie with him," Oberreuter says.
