CORALVILLE (KWWL) -
An Iowa City man is taken to the Johnson County Jail after he's charged with Child Endangerment, accused of leaving a 4 month old baby inside a car, alone.
Ahmed Jeddah, 43, was booked early on Monday morning. Criminal complaints say on September 4, officers were called to Target in Coralville on a report that the baby was left alone inside a car.
Officers removed the 4 month old from the car and found that she felt warm and had "crackly lung sounds."
The windows were left down, but the patrol car says the temperature was 82 degrees when the baby was alone, according to criminal complaints; KWWL archived newscast scripts show weather during the week leading up to September 4 was hot and humid.
Criminal complaints say that Jeddah came back to his car when he noticed the ambulance and said he left the baby inside the car, claiming she was in the care of his wife.
Witnesses say the baby was in the car alone for about 35 - 45 minutes.
