UPDATE: Police say the explosive device found at a Waterloo home this morning was a CO2 cartridge with a fuse.

According to police, a man was walking home when he came across a group of people who had the device. The man took the device, walked to his home on Monroe St., and called police.

The bomb squad was called and disposed of the device.

Police say the case is still under investigation.

Police officers found an explosive device at a Waterloo home early this morning.

Officers were called to the 211 Monroe Street just after 1:00 a.m. for a suspicious item. That's when officers found the device in the home.

The bomb unit was then called in to remove and disarm the device.
