Cedar Rapids Police investigate stabbing

Cedar Rapids police are now confirming a 42 year old victim was stabbed multiple times in the upper torso.

It happened in an alley near the Green Gable Inn by J Avenue and Center Point Road NE just before 7 p.m.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

Based on the investigation, police arrested a suspect, 45 year old Shawn Bascom.

Bascom was arrested for Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, and was taken to the Linn County Jail.

Police believe the victim and the suspect were acquainted with one another and the act was not random.

The victim is in stable condition, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Cedar Rapids Police are now confirming two men were taken to the hospital in connection to Sunday night's stabbing, and not just one person as earlier reported.

The person of interest has been detained, and no charges have been filed in connection to the crime at this time.

One person is taken to the hospital Sunday night after a stabbing in Cedar Rapids.

According to officers, they were called to 1227 J Avenue Northeast for a complaint of a disturbance at the Green Gable Inn at 6:55 p.m.

When police arrived, they found one person with multiple stab wounds.

Police say that person was then taken to the hospital to be treated.

At last word, police have a person detained for the stabbing, but an arrest and charges have not yet been made.
