Fans react to Hawkeye win

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

With time running out  and the game tied Marshall Koehn kicked a 57 yard field goal to give the Hawkeyes a 27-24 victory over Pittsburgh.

"One of the announcers said that like the fans didn't have any nails, and it was true everyone was like, it was so like tense," said Alfredo Antuna, a Hawkeye fan, about the lead up to the big kick.

 "We were looking at it and we're like oh my goodness it was going in, and it was crazy," said Tricia Palasigue, a member of the Hawkeye band.

"We all stood up onto the next bleacher and we were just like screaming and all our instruments were up and we were like we're ready to play the victory polka right here," said Palasigue .

Some students said the win brought people together.

 "Everyone was like giving each other high fives it was really nice and it was nice to see everyone interact with everyone even though we didn't know each other, it just kind of felt like a family," Emily Beckman told us.

The excitement carried on after the game.

"You could definitely feel the excitement outside on the street everyone was going crazy, everybody was happy, everybody was saying go Hawks, Hawkeye, On Iowa go Hawks, it was crazy and I just loved it," said Juan Gonzalez, a Hawkeye fan.

Fans told us the game is one to remember.

 "I think we'll be, the buzz will be will continue, yeah it's too good the win was too good, it's great to be a Hawkeye for sure," said Palasigue.
