SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -

The Northern Iowa Panthers scored a second consecutive big win over an FCS-ranked opponent on Saturday, this time holding on for a 34-20 win at Cal Poly.

Panthers quarterback Aaron Bailey threw for a touchdown and scored two more times on rushes, as UNI jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 34-7 one point in the fourth quarter.

UNI receiver Daurice Fountain shined on the night, catching eight catches for 123 yards. Bailey was also strong all night in the pocket and on the run, going 15 for 25 in the passing game while throwing for 218 yards, and also running 11 times for 57 yards.

The Panthers entered the game ranked 11th in the FCS, after taking down national power Eastern Washington last week in the UNI Dome. Cal-Poly was also ranked entering Saturday's game, sitting at 18th in the latest NCAA FCS Coaches' Poll. UNI is now 2-1 on the season, and has won two straight after falling to Iowa State in Ames to begin the 2015 season. The Panthers are idle next weekend, but will be back on the road to take on Illinois State (2-1) in their next game on October 3rd. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
