EDGEWOOD (KWWL) -

A Garber man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide and operating while intoxicated.

Kyle Sear, 21, was also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in fines for his role in a March 29 crash that killed 22-year-old Zachary Lee, of Elkport.

Investigators say Sear was traveling north on Glacier Road when he lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch.

Lee, his passenger, was partially thrown and died of his injuries.

Sear also was injured.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors reduced his original charge of vehicular homicide by operating under the influence, which could have brought a longer sentence.
