No tips received about fatal head-on crash

Posted: Updated:

After asking for help from the community, investigators say they have received no tips about the moments leading up to Wednesday's crash that killed both drivers near Raymond.

The family of the Waterloo man driving the car wants to know why he was near Jesup after returning from a concert in Chicago.

Black Hawk County authorities are investigating the moments leading up to Wednesday morning's head-on accident that left 62-year-old Bill Price of Waterloo and 60-year-old Dale Weber of Jesup dead.

"There's no indications of alcohol, but we do believe there may have been some speed involved," Captain Rick Abben with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office said.

Captain Abben said Price returned to Waterloo from an AC/DC concert in Chicago around 4:00 a.m., and he dropped off the friend he was with at their house.

"The person he was with at the concert said he dropped him off and said he was going home," Captain Abben said.

Parts of an old tire, headlight and even an old mixed CD remain at the intersection of Dubuque Road and South Nesbit -- pieces of the crash site.

Meanwhile, investigators are trying to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.

"The accident happened at about 6:15 in the morning. So, we're trying to figure out where he was at between 4:00 and 6:15," Captain Abben said.

Captain Abben said there's nothing suspicious about the accident.

We reached out to Bill Price's roommate Friday, but he did not want to talk about the crash.

If you have any information about where Price was between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 6:15 a.m., please call the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.
