IOWA CITY (AP) -

Iowa regulators have suspended the licenses of two trainers after racing dogs at a Dubuque greyhound track tested positive for a risky performance-enhancing drug.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission said Wednesday the dogs at the Iowa Greyhound Park tested positive for ractopamine, a drug that is used as a feed supplement to make farm animals increase their muscle mass. The drug poses health problems for dogs.
Regulators are looking into whether the banned substance was mistakenly included in the dogs' food supply or administered deliberately in an attempt to fix races. Two kennels associated with the positive tests have been ordered not to enter dogs into races until additional testing can be done.
The track has cut its number of races from 15 daily to 12 as a result.
