WATERLOO (KWWL) -

State Senator Jeff Danielson has been assigned to the permanent committee which reviews Iowa's public retirement systems.

The Public Retirement Systems Committee reviews the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System, police and fire retirement systems and the retirement system for the judicial system.

“Iowa’s public employee retirement systems are in good financial shape,” said Danielson, in a statement. “They help us recruit the best teachers, police officers and other government workers, while also keeping the promise of a secure retirement. During this review, we go through the numbers while looking out for the best interest of all Iowa taxpayers.

The bipartisan committee of five State Senators and five State Representatives typically meets in odd-numbered years.
