WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A teen is recovering after being shot while riding his bike.
The shooting happened in the 400 block of Independence in Waterloo Saturday night.
Police say a 14-year-old boy was riding his bike when he was shot in the leg.

KWWL's Jessica Hartman spoke with a person who lives in the area where the shooting took place who are concerned by the recent crime.

"So that's too close to home."
Alexander Guzman and his family have lived on Florence street since 2000.
He says, growing up, things like this didn't happen on his street and it has him worried.
"When you see all the shootings going on, You're just wondering in the back of your head is it going to be me next or am I going to get hit, my house, my family, people that I love," said Guzman.

Guzman says his family has witnessed three incidents of shots fired this year.
"Two cars were sitting facing each other and one person ended up getting shot. and the other one was by the tree behind me. And just a couple guys shooting a gun off, but that's more than enough on one street," recalls Guzman.

The shooting he is referring to, happened last march. It started at the Crossroads Mall where one man was beaten, continued here where a man was shot, and then ended with a fight in the emergency room.

"Just don't even know what to think any more. I don't even know if I want to go outside anymore, especially later at night," said Guzman.

Guzman tells KWWL, police were on scene last night for a short while.
KWWL did try reaching out to the family of the 14-year-old boy, but they declined to comment at this time.
