OSKALOOSA (KWWL) -

Standout former Hawkeye and Super Bowl Champion Tyler Sash was remembered Thursday in his hometown of Oskaloosa.

The 27-year old suddenly died earlier this week inside a home in Oskaloosa.

Autopsy results revealed there was no trauma and police don't suspect any foul play.

Meanwhile, at Fellowship Bible Church hundreds gathered to remember Sash, it was a mournful and solemn day in the small town.

“Sad, because he did a lot for the community,” said Angela Carter. “Tyler has been an inspiration for Justin, my son. He has a learning disability.”

Carter says Sash would spend a lot of time with her son Justin and he touched so many lives with his non profit organization.

Many wiping away tears - leaving the visitation saddened that Sash passed away.

Sash was a threat on the field, but had a soft, thoughtful personality off the turf.

Friends leaving the visitation say every time he would fly back home to Oskaloosa from New York, he'd find a special place in his heart for people with specially needs, like John Kliegl's daughter, Abby.

“As a father, it meant everything for acceptance,” said John. “He saw Abby as a person and somebody that had true worth and he loved our daughter Abby."

Sash's former teammates and high school buddies were finding that special place in their hearts, sending one of their final goodbyes, paying respect and giving flowers to a man they say is gone too soon.

“I love you Tyler. You made a bigger impact off the field than on the field,” said Kliegl.

The Oskaloosa community says Sash never wanted anything, he just wanted to do the right thing.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday September 11 in Oskaloosa  followed by a private burial for the family.

The family is asking any memorials people are willing to send be made to the Oskaloosa Booster Club.
