Hudson Schools at-risk coordinator resigns

HUDSON (KWWL) -

The Hudson Schools at-risk coordinator has resigned after questions about licensing.

Dave Lipinski has held the job for 19 years, but does not have a teaching license, as required by the state. He does have a masters degree in mental health counseling.

Superintendent Tony Voss says when Lipinski was hired the role as an at-risk coordinator wasn't clearly defined.

On Friday, Voss and Lipinski went to Des Moines to meet with the Department of Education in an effort find a solution.

Voss says Lipinski has decided to resign after that meeting.

In a press release, Voss states, "In Dave’s own words, “to put me in a box and not let ‘Dave be Dave’ just isn’t going to work, and to add job responsibilities to my co-workers wouldn’t be fair while I continue to earn a paycheck in a diminished capacity.”

Over the years, Lipinski says he has checked with the department of education to make sure he was qualified to do the job. Recently, someone made the board aware Lipinski didn't have his teaching license.
