Showers and storms tracking in this morning

Posted: Updated:

Storms will be widespread today and will produce some heavy rainfall. Although severe weather is not expected, a few storms may produce some gusty winds and maybe some hail.

Our main threat will be flash flooding. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area today for the potential for an inch or two of rain in a short period of time... and some may see more.

Temps won't change much today, they are in the low to mid 70s right now with some 60s to the west, but it is very humid... dew points remain in the 70s this morning over most of the state. They will stay high today, but will drop to much more comfortable levels for tomorrow as the stalled front finally tracks to the east. That front is the focal point for all the rain that is tracking through the Midwest right now... the heaviest will be this morning, but we could see a few showers/storms pop up as the front tracks to the east this afternoon and early evening.

But that high will bring in some much nicer weather for tomorrow before another cool front tracks in for Thursday. The first front will bring the best chance of heavy rainfall... many could see over an inch and a half, especially if we get the storms training over the same areas. The main threat of rain will be this morning with some scattered this afternoon. While highs will be close to average, it will be very humid with those dew points in the 70s as well. Any lingering showers will track out early evening and then we will have clearing skies. Lows will drop into the more comfortable 50s and tomorrow we will have mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. That chance of rain stays with us for Thursday and Thursday night before we dry out again for the weekend. It will cool into the upper 60s for Friday before climbing back to the mid 70s by Sunday.
