DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Police Department's K9 Unit is returning from a national competition as winners. 

K9 "Brix" and Corporal Brian Wullweber took part in the Vohne Liche Kennels & American Working Dog K-9 Olympics.

The duo is bringing home awards in four categories. 

They won 1st place in the “Hogan’s Alley” competition, which tests suspect apprehension and narcotic detection.

They won 2nd place in open area narcotic detection competition and 3rd place in the vehicle narcotic detection and overall narcotic detection contests.

The competition took place in Denver, Indiana on Aug. 24-28.

This is the fourth year Brix and Cpl. Wullweber have participated in the K9 Olympics.
