CHICKASAW COUNTY (KWWL) -

OLD NORTHEAST IOWA CONFERENCE RIVALS..CHARLES CITY AND NEW HAMPTON MEET TONIGHT IN CHICKASAW COUNTRY. NEW HAMPTON OPENED WITH A 14-6 WIN OVER CRESTWOOD WHILE CHARLES CITY DROPPED ITS OPENER TO OSAGE.

IT WAS A DEFENSIVE BATTLE IN THE FIRST HALF.  NEW HAMPTON WITH THE BALL ON A 1ST AND 10 ON THEIR OWN 48. QUARTERBACK ALEX TROYNA RUNS OUT OF TIME AND IS SACKED BY #3 BRYCE FOXEN FOR THE 10 YARD LOSS.

NEW HAMPTON RETURNS THE FAVOR AS QUARTERBACK DREW MITCHELL GETS SWARMED BY A HOST OF CHICKASAW DEFENDERS LED BY #34 JOSHUA FENSKE FOR A 5 YARD LOSS AND THE SCORE STILL 0-0.

IN THE SECOND QUARTER, NEW HAMPTON WITH THE BALL AND A 3RD AND 11 FROM THE COMETS 12 YARD LINE. QUARTERBACK ALEX TROYNA ROLLS TO HIS LEFT AND FINDS #89 ZACHARY WEMARK, KEEPS HIS EYES ON THE BALL, BRINGS IT IN, AND SCORES TO PUT THE CHICKASAWS AHEAD 7-0.

LATER IN THE SECOND QUARTER, ON A 4TH AND 5 FROM THE NEW HAMPTON 30, COMETS QB DREW MITCHELL TRIES TO FIND AN OPEN RECEIVER BUT THE PASS INTENDED FOR DALLAS NEHLS IS KNOCKED DOWN BY ALEX TROYNA.

COMETS TRYING TO GET SOMETHING STARTED AS #11 SHANE FELLER TAKES THE DIRECT SNAP AND SPRINTS TO HIS LEFT FOR A HUGE 45 YARD RUN DOWN TO THE CHICKASAW 30 YARD LINE BUT THE DEFENSE HOLDS AND THE SCORE IS 7-0 NEW HAMPTON AT HALFTIME.

BUT CHARLES CITY COMES BACK TO WIN 26-13 OVER NEW HAMPTON.
