WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has released the 2015 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Nominees.

KWWL is nominated in five categories.

KWWL's 6 p.m. Newscast from March 5, 2015, is nominated for Best Newscast. In this newscast, Brad Hanson covered the Galena train derailment live from an airplane. Michelle Corless tracked down the 911 call from a woman who was impaled by a pipe, couldn't get out of her car, but managed to call for help on her own. Michael Crowe was live from the Casey Frederiksen murder trial and Nikki Newbrough went to Vinton to see how the town was coping following the accidental shooting death of a 14-year-old. Ron Steele and Amanda Goodman anchored the newscast. StormTRACK 7 Chief Meteorologist Mark Schnackenberg showed viewers how smoke from the train appeared on radar. The show was produced by Scott Albanese. Photographer Sean O'Neal assisted with a story. News Director Shane Moreland, Assistant News Director Eric Page and Content Manager Adam Amdor were also credited.

Two special reports by Anchor Amanda Goodman have received nominations. Photographer Sean O'Neal assisted with both stories. In False Alarm, Amanda put a family to the test to see how they would react to fire alarms. In The Bully Test, Amanda put a group of kids in the room together to talk about bullying. With their parents' permission, she used child actors to see if anyone would stop bullying after she left the room.

Jerry Gallagher's special report Brothers in Arms also received a nomination. In this story, Jerry traveled to Washington, D.C. with his father on an Honor Flight. Photographer Sean O'Neal also assisted with this story.

Former KWWL Reporter Michael Crowe was nominated for a story he did. In Fuel Frenzy, Michael took a look at how people reacted when a gas station dropped prices below $2 for the first time in years.
