Iowa Medical Classification Center inmate accused of prison assault

CORALVILLE (KWWL) -
An Iowa Medical Classification Center inmate is now in custody at the Johnson County Jail as he waits to be tried on assault charges.
Rico Osby, 24, is accused of beating another inmate at the prison back in March; he was charged in mid-August.
Criminal complaints suggest Osby put a padlock into a sock, and hit his victim in the back of the head with it three times; a corrections officers saw and tried to break it up. Osby dropped the sock and tried to assault the victims with his fists until correctional officers saw and tried to break it up.
The victim had to be treated at the University Hospital. 
Osby is charged with willful injury - causing bodily injury.
