CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Preliminary enrollment figures for the University of Northern Iowa shows an increase in new freshman, transfer and graduate students for the fall semester of 2015.

Officials preliminary reports are saying that new resident and non-resident students are up nearly six percent from last year. If the numbers hold, this will be the third consecutive year the university has seen an increase.

Figures are up nearly eight percent in regards to transfer students. It's the first time in five years UNI has seen in increase in this area. New graduate students are also up.

Final enrollment figures are determined on students enrolled through the end of the tenth day of classes. The final numbers will be released next week.
