Food Policy Council looking to fill two vacancies in Johnson County

The Food Policy Council in Johnson county needs to fill two vacancies on the council.

One vacancy is for an unexpired term beginning immediately and expiring June 30, 2017.  The other is for an unexpired term beginning immediately and expiring June 30, 2019.

The purpose of the Council is to improve dialogue and discussion and provide necessary advice on food and agriculture issues to the County, municipalities, community boards, local agencies, nongovernmental organizations, businesses, and other interested groups. The Council addresses food system issues in the county, including the development of strategic goals, data-gathering, research projects, and policies to address food system issues.

Representation from the following categories is preferred, but not required:  Anti-hunger advocates; Education and outreach; Farmer/Rancher; Land Use and Conservation/Planning; Registered Dietitian/Physician; Food Safety Specialists; Realtor/Developer/Housing; Restaurant/Institution; or Food Distribution/Processing.

Qualified applicants need to be eligible electors of Johnson County.

Completed applications must be returned to the Board Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015.
