CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A new cross-country course will open in Seminole Park in Cedar Rapids.

The course will serve local high schools and Mt. Mercy along with Coe College will be opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1.

The course was developed as a result of a partnership between the City of Cedar Rapids, Mt. Mercy College and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and paid for with private donations. It is anticipated to draw regional meets to Cedar Rapids.

Speakers will include Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett, Head Cross-Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field Coach, Mt. Mercy University, Ryan Scheckel among others.
