AMES (KWWL) -

A former Waterloo West wrestler has been suspended indefinitely from the Iowa State wrestling team after being arrested for assault.

The Ames Police Department says Marcus Harrington is accused of punching another man in the face and breaking his jaw during an incident at an apartment in the 200 block of Stanton Avenue at around 9 p.m. on August 22nd.

Harrington turned himself in on Thursday.

He'll be in court for a preliminary hearing on September 14th.

"We are very disappointed in Marcus. We take the charges Marcus has been accused of very seriously. Marcus has been suspended indefinitely from the team under the student-athlete code of conduct policy," says Iowa State Wrestling Coach Kevin Jackson.
