UPDATE: Police searching for dark SUV in deadly shooting

Posted: Updated:

Waterloo Police made an arrest as a shooting investigation continues, but investigators say they're still looking for the suspect who pulled the trigger.

Justin Dollen was shot outside the Fantasy Theater on Airline Highway early Sunday morning.

Police say they've been looking for a dark-colored, possibly purple Dodge Durango and pulled one over Sunday that matched the description of the suspect's vehicle. Police originally told KWWL the vehicle was a different color.

A handgun was found in the vehicle and one person was arrested on weapons charges. Police say that person is not a suspect in the homicide.

Police say they'll be contacting witnesses today.

An overnight shooting in Waterloo has left one dead.

KWWL was on the scene Sunday.

The shooting happened around 3:30 Sunday morning at the Fantasy Theater on Airline Highway.

Authorities say 27 year old Justin Dollen was shot multiple times.

He was transferred to Iowa City from an area hospital and later died from his injuries.

Dollen does have a criminal past that includes jail time for possession of a fire arm.

Police were still on scene more than 12 hours after the shooting.

The investigation seemed to be focused around two cars at the back of the gentlemen's club.

Crime scene tape roped off a back garage door and several cars parked against a retaining wall.

An investigator was taking photos of the front of a grey Pathfinder, while another was taking video of the scene.

A metal detector was also used on the area around the cars and near the entrance to the property.

Police were still on scene Sunday night.

No arrests have been made.
