Iowa City man assaulted by 6 men in bar bathroom

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City Police are investigating a strong-armed robbery that happened around midnight on Friday, August 28th.

Police responded to a call at Mercy Hospital, where they found a victim had been robbed.

According to the victim, he met three Hispanic males at Gabe's Bar in the 300 block of E Washington St., the victim spent an hour socializing with the men before going to the restroom.

The victim was cornered and assaulted in the bathroom by the three males and three other Hispanic males.

The victim was reportedly knocked out and awoke to find his money and property stolen.

The victim sustained several injuries that required emergency medical treatment, but the victim was able to make it to the hospital on his own.

One of the assailants was described  as a Hispanic male in his 20's, wearing a white shirt and flat-billed ball cap. Another around the same age, was described wearing a red and black shirt. Both had neck tattoos.
