DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The nuns of the Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey in Dubuque County are turning to the public for help identifying a man who broke into one of their buildings and stole $750.

The photos are pulled from surveillance videos taken of the man.  Authorities say he is about 5'10", heavy set, has a crew cut style haircut, and was wearing a white shirt, white shoes and blue jeans at the time of the burglary.

A press release from the Dubuque/Jo Daviess County Crime Stoppers says the burglary happened Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 1:15 a.m.

According to their website, 22 women live on the more than 600 acre Abbey south of Dubuque.  "We try to follow Jesus Christ through a life of prayer, silence, simplicity and ordinary work," their site says.  They also make candy, most notably known as "Trappistine Creamy Caramels".

A nun told KWWL today they appreciated the concern, but didn't want to comment any further on the situation, saying they value their privacy.

If you have any information on the man in the photos, you can call the Crime Stoppers at 1-800-747-0117 (you can remain anonymous by calling this number) or locally at 563-588-0714.  You can also contact Investigator Bill Grant directly at 563-587-3854.

If information leads to an arrest, a reward of $1,000 may be awarded.
