WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a crash Wednesday night.

Waterloo police were dispatched to the 200 block of River Road around 10:30 p.m.

According to a police report, officers found Chad Wolf on the ground, face down off the roadway.

Witnesses saw the motorcyclist pass them, who appeared to be driving fine and not speeding.

The report says it appears Wolf did not turn as sharp as the road turned and perhaps did not turn at all.

There were no signs that the driver tried to correct his direction of travel or stop.

The report says Wolf was breathing and had a pulse, but was unconscious.

He was taken to Allen Hospital where staff say his heart stopped.  He was revived, but unresponsive.

A scan later showed he had numerous fractures in his face and skull.

The medical team had him airlifted to Iowa City.

The incident report says the police officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Wolf.

A blood draw for chemical testing was obtained at the hospital.
