CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

Coralville Mayor John Lundell plans to run for re-election.

Lundell is on his first term as mayor. He previously spent 10 years on the city council.

Lundell is proud of his work helping Coralville recover from the 2008 floods.

The 2013 Coralville Mayor and City Council races received national attention. The Iowa chapter of the national conservative group Americans for Prosperity poured a lot of money into the race to educate voters on the city's use of tax increment financing (TIF) to build up areas like the Iowa River Landing. The incentives have put Coralville in major debt. When Lundell won, despite the spending, Vice President Joe Biden called to congratulate him.
