CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

Two eastern Iowa teenagers were awarded a full scholarship to a ballet academy.

Jaci Doty, 14, of Williamsburg and Paul Amrani, 15, of Iowa City were been accepted on full scholarship to attend Houston Ballet Academy’s professional training program.

Thousands of ballet students from around the world auditioned for Houston Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive; a six week training session for aspiring professional ballet dancers.  About 300 are accepted into the summer intensive, where they are evaluated and considered for one of 20 spots in the full-time program.  Doty and Amrani will return to Houston in August as scholarship students of the world renowned school, where they will pursue their dreams of becoming professional ballet dancers.

Doty and Amrani trained locally at Nolte Academy in Coralville under the direction of Grace and Tad Snider, who are both graduates of Houston Ballet Academy and former dancers with Houston Ballet.
