DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Loras College announced today they were awarded a $30,000 grant from the James B. and Melita A. McDonough Foundation.

Grant funds will be used to purchase electronic classroom equipment that will make the newly renovated Loras College Center for Business Analytics on the third floor of Keane Hall a state-of-the-art learning facility.

“Loras is proud to have access to some of the nation’s most experienced leaders in the business analytics field,” said Dan Conway, Ph.D., director of the Loras College Center for Business Analytics. “This technology will give our students the opportunity to virtually collaborate with guest speakers live in the classroom with great convenience.”

The generous grant will allow for the installation of a 32-inch-wide fixed lectern, a ceiling-mounted projector, diagonal electronic projection screen and ceiling-recessed loudspeakers in the four Center classrooms. This technology will help foster a collaborative learning environment, allowing professors, guest speakers and students to project and share notes, websites, videos, video conferences, illustrations and analyze data with classes directly from laptops and personal electronic devices.

This is the second grant the McDonough Foundation has awarded toward the Loras College Center for Business Analytics. In 2014, the Foundation helped fund the demolition and rebuilding of walls in Keane Hall, in addition to the installation of new mechanicals and wiring.
