CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Mount Mercy University began its 2015-16 academic year today with the largest enrollment in the university’s nearly 90 year history with an estimated total of 1,857 students. The fall 2015 student body is on track to set records in number of traditional freshmen, residential students, online students, graduate students and international students.

“We are thrilled to see growth in enrollment during a time when many colleges are reporting a decrease in numbers,” said President Laurie Hamen. “Our emphasis on academic excellence and compassion is what sets us apart. We are focused on academic quality, affordability and large-school advantages—research, clinical experiences, internships and community service—in a personal and welcoming environment. Mount Mercy students learn to think critically and solve complex problems. Then they use those skills to care about world.”
