WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Wartburg College has received $500,000 for scholarships for the college's Transforming Tomorrow campaign.  The gift was through the estate of Sanford "Sandy" Moss, who established the charity fund with former graduates, and trustees, Harold Kurtz and Gracie Jahn Kurtz.

The Sanford "Sandy" Moss Journalism scholarship was created following Moss' death in July of 2014.

“Sandy had indicated he was considering making a gift to Wartburg College,” Harold Kurtz said. “He knew of our longtime interest and support for the college, so we felt we were carrying out his wishes in making this gift.”

The new scholarship will be awarded to journalism and communication students at the university.
