PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -

Five teens were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a crash involving a grain truck.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 14, a little more than a mile south of Parkersburg.

The Grundy County Sheriff says 59-year-old Douglas Tjeerdsma was driving south in a 1998 Peterbilt truck tractor pulling a grain trailer.

Tjeerdsma slowed to make a right turn into a farm driveway.

17-year-old Korrigan Hippen of Aplington was also going south in a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero and couldn't avoid the truck.

Hippen was taken to Allen Hospital.

Four passengers in Hippen's car were also taken to the hospital:

17-year-old Connor Poppen of Aplington and 16-year-old Trevor Haren of Parkersburg were taken to Sartori Hospital.

Hailey Holven and Nathaniel Hemann, both 16 from Parkersburg, were taken to Allen Hospital.

The Grundy County Sheriff says everyone involved has non-life threatening injuries.
