Study: Kids leave healthy foods on lunch trays

Researchers with the University of Vermont looked at what foods kids are eating off of their lunch trays and found that they're more likely to eat processed fruits and veggies or fruit juice versus the real thing.
The scientists looked at pictures of lunch trays before and after kids ate; most of the kids threw away fruits and vegetables without touching them, but they did eat their processed counterparts.
Experts think that kids prefer healthy foods if they're cut or sliced; the USDA mandated fruit and veggies on school lunch trays in 2012.
