CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Buses arrived at Orchard Hills Elementary in Cedar Falls on Monday, dropping off kids excited to start school.

"I'm just excited to get a chance do things differently than how I did them last year," said Rae Wilson.

They anxiously waited for the bell to ring, ready to start classes.

"It actually feels really fun to be back at school. learn some new stuff, being older in a new grade, playing outside during recess," said Carter Guse.

Principal Andrea Christopher said she was happy to see so many excited faces.

"All smiles, no kinks," she said. "We were expecting everybody here, and there wasn't a lot of tears, so that was good."

And many parents waited with their kids for the bell, and they say they also felt the excitement this morning.

"Lots of energy," said Lindy Strohman. "They were all up bright and early, combing their hair, picking out their outfits and ready to go way before they needed to be."

They just hope the excitement the kids have now stays with them the rest of the school year.
