Police are investigating a shots fired incident in the 600 block of Kern Street in Waterloo.

The original call came in at around 2 p.m. Monday as five to six shots, according to Captain Dave Mohlis.

Police say a house on Newton Street is damaged from bullets.  According to the police report, officers learned one round entered a front window of the house.

"We heard like 8 shots then 3 more come out ringing, they thought it was fire crackers but it wasn't. It was gun shots... next thing you know we see a car flying through the intersection, then neighbors come out wondering where their kids were," said witness Dorothy Simpson.

According to police, a person took off running in between houses near the area.

The incident is still under investigation.  There are no arrests.
