IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Summer break is over for many students today. It's the first day of classes at the University of Iowa, Iowa State, and the University of Northern Iowa.

The University of Iowa is welcoming it's largest class ever today. This year there's over five thousand new students and yesterday everyone came out to celebrate the new year at the President's Block Party.

The Block Party happens every year to welcome all new students. KWWL was at the party last night. The dance team, cheerleaders, and marching band were all there to get the students excited.

Some of the students we spoke with seemed to be ready for today, and others still haven't given class much thought yet. Regardless, man said they were proud to be Hawkeyes.

"when i came here and i \visited i was like oh my gosh, this is absolutely the place i wanna be, i went to a couple football games and it was awesome, the crowd was amazing everyone here was super nice and great, it was just, it was the place for me."

And many students say they are also looking forward to getting involved this year, trying out new organization and activities on campus. Last week is when some of the  state universities moved new students in... Some welcoming more than 1000 students each day

The cyclones are also preparing for classes. This weekend the freshman class took part in Destination Iowa State. Its a fun event that helps prepare students for their first day of college. Many students at the University of Northern Iowa also moved into their dorms this weekend.
