Community puts final touches on new playground

DENVER (KWWL) -

One community was hard at work Sunday, putting the finishing touches on a $200,000 dollar playground.

The town of Denver has been working since April, when team members asked local kids what they wanted in the new playground.
Then a New York company brought those ideas to life and the community got to work building it.
Since Tuesday, volunteers of all ages have put in 4500 man hours.

"What makes the park special is the people who showed up to build it," said Jason Walters, chair of the playground committee. "I had a citizen tell me just the other day, that has lived here for 65 years and he knows 20% of the people who showed up. Good quality people that have just come out of the wood work everyday; working from 8 in the morning until 9 at night just to build a playground for our kids."

The Denver community says the park is here for the entire Cedar Valley to enjoy.
The ceremony for the completion of the park took place at 5 Sunday and after a few safety inspections the park will officially be open later this week.
