Cyclones part ways with Noskowiak

AMES (KWWL) -

Nick Noskowiak's career at Iowa State never got a chance to start. Amid recent legal troubles, the incoming freshman point guard has chosen not to attend ISU.

The school sent out a press release on Saturday in which new head coach Steve Prohm said the school and Noskowiak "have agreed to mutually part ways."

“Nick informed us Friday night of his decision to step away from basketball and we agree that it is in his best interest and the best interest of Iowa State for us to mutually part,” Prohm said. “We appreciate his effort when he was with us and wish him and his family the best in the future.”

“I have decided to step away from the Iowa State men’s basketball program,” Noskowiak said. “I wish Coach Prohm, my former coaches and teammates the best of luck in the future and I appreciate the opportunity they gave me to be a part of their team.”

The separation comes on the heels of the revelation that Noskowiak had been charged with OWI in May. A felony charge for recklessly endangering the safety of others was filed against him two weeks ago, prompting Prohm to suspend him earlier in the week.
