CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The new school year is just around the corner, and this morning the Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber welcomed the new teachers in the 2015 New Teachers' Breakfast.

Students, teachers, and education leaders joined together at the Park Place Event Center. The event focused not only on new teachers, but also on students and student leadership.

Kids from Cedar Valley spoke at the breakfast, and even offered advice on what they think makes a good teacher. Both students and educators spoke about why they are excited for this upcoming school year.

"I'm really excited, it's my first job out of college. Went to UNI. Super excited to actually get in the classroom and apply what I've worked so hard for in the last four years," new teacher Tara Schweitert said.

The University of Northern Iowa was the main sponsor for the breakfast.

The new teachers welcomed at the event were from Cedar Falls Schools, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools, St. Patrick Catholic School and Waterloo Schools.
