Man accused of stealing, pawning $15,000 worth of rings

Iowa City Police arrest a man who allegedly stole $15,000 worth of rings from a man, that were likely worth much more in sentimental value.
According to criminal complaints, Stacy and Melissa Levell, visited a man back in March and stole 12 rings, valued at $15,000, that were left to him by his wife after she died.
The victim claims that Stacy admitted he took the rings because he needed rent money, and he admitted that he pawned them at Money and More pawn shop; Levell also, apparently, asked if he could borrow some money from the victim, according to complaints.
Officers checked in at the pawn shop and found that Stacy and Melissa pawned 11 of the rings for $1,307, but the most expensive ring wasn't pawned there. Police say Stacy was charged with 1st degree theft; he was booked in the Johnson County Jail early on Wednesday morning. Melissa hasn't been arrested.
