CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The following statement is from Taco Bell Corp. regarding KWWL's questions about the Cedar Rapids franchise where an active meth lab was found. The restaurant was closed, cleaned, tested and reopened last week:

"First off, we and our franchisee find this situation completely unacceptable and want guests to know the immediate and thorough steps our operator has taken to reopen.

"Our franchisee has worked closely with local authorities, as well as an independent environmental service company to validate that the restaurant is safe for our customers and team members.

"Out of an abundance of caution, two separate cleanings were conducted and independent testing confirmed that the restaurant is safe and ready to be restocked and operated.

"Finally, the Health Department has cleared the restaurant for re-opening and is now open for business.

"The health and well being of our customers and team members is always our number one priority and our franchisee and restaurant team are working together on re-training, as well as reviewing company values, resources and safety standards.

"They are committed to serving the Cedar Rapids community and are excited that the restaurant is open."
