TIANJIN, China (KWWL) -

John Deere expects to resume production this week at its facilities in the Tianjin Economic Development Area in China.

An explosion last week caused damage to Deere facilities including blown-out windows and doors, damage to ceilings, and a broken water pipe.

Production will resume after final inspections are made of equipment and facilities, according to company spokesman Ken Golden.

The company makes agricultural and construction equipment, and engines for customers in China and the surrounding region.

The facility is about four miles away from the explosion site.

Golden says Deere is aware of only one employee who remains hospitalized. That person was injured at home when the explosion occurred.

Golden says Deere does not plan to comment publicly on the cost of its cleanup as the economic impact is not anticipated to be material to the overall company’s results.
