Two new Iowa City Police officers sworn in

The Iowa City Police Department has two new officers.

Thursday August , 13th, the department swore in Daniel Falco and Kristie Davis as police officers during a ceremony at Emma J. Harvat Hall.

Officer Falco, 39, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000.

Falco has an M.F.A. in Art from Northern Illinois University and an M.A. in Education from Saint Xavier University. Prior to employment with the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Falco worked as a teacher in Chicago, Illinois and Gary Indiana.

Officer Davis,37, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000.  Prior to joining the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Davis worked as a firefighter and EMT-B for the Harvard, Illinois Fire Protection District.

Both Officers were hired to fill vacancies created by personnel turnovers within the police department.

Officer Falco and Officer Davis started the Cedar Rapids Law Enforcement Academy on Monday August 17th, 2015 pending graduation on December 18th, 2015.   Prior to a permanent assignment, both Officers will participate in the Iowa City Police Department's field training program.
