IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

As University of Iowa students move in this week, the school is urging students to be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Six students have tested positive for mumps in recent weeks.

The university says cases of the disease have also been reported on other campuses in the Midwest.

The virus is spread through contact with saliva or mucous. Signs and symptoms include: fever, headache, jaw pain, loss of appetite, swelling and sore throat.
