Move-in begins today at Iowa's three state universities

Posted: Updated:

Expect extra traffic near Iowa's three state universities Tuesday, as new students will begin moving onto the campuses for the next school year.

At the University of Iowa, around 2,000 students will move in Tuesday, with thousands more this week. The university expects this freshman class to be the largest yet.

U of I says Clinton St. will be rerouted to one-way, and says there's a new plan for students moving into west side halls.

Students will move in during three shifts: 9 a.m. to noon, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The university says this year's move-in plan includes some changes for students moving into Hillcrest, Petersen, Quadrangle, Rienow, and Slater halls.

U of I will also welcome students to the first new residence hall on campus in more than 40 years, the Mary Louise Petersen Residence Hall.

Move-in for U of I students will continue through Thursday, Aug. 20.
