DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A sewer pipe has broken in Dubuque and is causing untreated waste water to flow into a storm sewer.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is cautioning people to keep kids and pets away from the west side of Kerper Boulevard between Kerper Court and E. 16th Street.

Crews from the public works department discovered the problem early this afternoon.

They are working to find the exact location of the broken sanitary sewer pipe.
