WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A train collided with a car in Waterloo on Thursday morning.

It happened at Grandview Avenue and Clark Street.

Police previously said the driver tried to beat the train, but Capt. Dave Mohlis said later that the driver simply did not see the train and was trying to cross the tracks normally.

The car was hit on the passenger side. The driver was not hurt and given a citation for failing to yield at a railroad crossing.

The scene was cleared up by 10 a.m. Thursday.
