IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
A West Liberty man faces multiple felony charges, after he allegedly sold cocaine and a loaded gun to an undercover detective.
Rigoberto Herrera, 27, is accused of selling the illicit materials to undercover officers on three occasions in June.
On June 23, Herrera allegedly delivered more than 8 grams of cocaine for $260 to a detective in Iowa City; the next day, he was paid $1,700 for 2 ounces of cocaine, according to criminal complaints.
Criminal complaints say on June 30, Herrera sold a Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun to the detective for $500 outside of Mercy hospital in Iowa City; the detective who purchased the gun says that it was fully loaded at the time. The complaint from June 30 says Herrera is a convicted felon.
Herrera was booked in the Johnson County Jail on Wednesday, and charged on Thursday. He's charged with 2 counts of a controlled substance violation, and one count of possession of a firearm as a felon.
