UPDATE: Officials say there could be more charges in fatal crash

Posted: Updated:

Officials now say the Black Hawk County attorney is still reviewing a crash that killed Deputy Tim Petersen.

Waterloo Police Chief Dan Trelka said Wednesday morning that no additional charges would be pursued against Shawna Flippo, 30, of Waterloo.

Trelka later said Wednesday afternoon the Black Hawk County Attorney is still reviewing the case.

Waterloo Police say no additional charges will be filed in a fatal crash in which a Black Hawk County Sheriff's Deputy was killed last week.

On Aug. 4, Deputy Tim Petersen was killed in a motorcycle crash in Waterloo.

Witnesses say an SUV rolled through a stop sign and into the path of Petersen's motorcycle.

The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Shawna Flippo of Waterloo, was ticketed for failing to obey a stop sign, driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Waterloo Police Chief Dan Trelka says they're not pursuing anything more than the traffic citations issued.

Trelka says police talked with the Black Hawk County Attorney's Office, and the office says elements are missing to pursue anything more serious than the citations issued.
